No injuries were reported after Minneapolis fire crews battled an apartment fire for two hours on Monday. The Minneapolis Fire Department said crews were called to a four-story apartment building on the 500 block of 24th Street East around 1 a.m. As crews arrived, they reported seeing black smoke coming from the building. The fire was located on the first floor, Minneapolis fire officials said, adding it spread to the second floor. All occupants of the building exited before fire crews arrived. Minneapolis fire officials said one person was medically evaluated on the scene for potential smoke inhalation, but they did not need to go to the hospital. Fire crews also found and rescued one unharmed dog and two unharmed cats that were sheltered in place. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
